water.dance was created at various Southern California beaches, including Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, and Manhattan Beach. Inspired by the Pacific Ocean's power, sounds, colors, and grandness, water.dance emerged from a deep respect and appreciation of the ocean. Primarily as a dance photographer, I felt inclined to see dance performed on a different medium — a medium that is unpredictable, but yet, has a well defined pattern. I choose windy days, hoping to capture large waves and the surfers that dance on them. I anticipate the moment when a surfer catches the right wave and rides it to the end, a water.dance. The photographs are a reflection of what I felt and saw when I created them — the cold wind, the breaking waves, the mist in the air, the dance, fulfillment.
